The Tyme difference

Milk isn't our aesthetic. It's our first ingredient.

Milk is everywhere in beauty right now — milk serums, milk scents, milkmaid everything. Almost all of it is a lab product borrowing the farm. Ours is the farm: fresh goat's milk — about a quarter cream — from our own herd in Idaho, poured cold into every bar so it never scorches.

Most milk beauty is a scent. Ours is an ingredient.

Why it feels different

The bar in most showers legally isn't soap.

Three things the soap aisle would rather you didn't read — and the reason the first shower with a real bar feels like news.

01

"Beauty bars" are detergent.

In the US, a bar can only be labeled soap if it actually is one — oils and lye, the old way. Most shelf bars are pressed synthetic detergent, so the package says "beauty bar" instead. Check yours tonight.

02

The glycerin gets taken out.

Soap-making naturally creates glycerin — the part that draws moisture to your skin. Large manufacturers commonly remove it and sell it on for lotion. Cold-process soap keeps it in the bar, because taking it out is an industrial step, not a soap-making one.

03

Ours starts with cream.

Goat's milk is about a quarter cream. It cleans gently and leaves something behind instead of taking everything with it — which is why it's been used on skin for a few thousand years, and why our lather feels like nothing detergent makes.

From our herd to your shower

Poured cold. Cured for weeks.

Every batch starts with the morning's milk and ends on a curing rack, where the bars sit for weeks until they're hard, mild, and slow to dissolve — about a month of daily showers from one bar. Roughly 26¢ a shower, before you count the lotion you stop buying.

That's Charming in the photo, by the way. Our best seller — and yes, we fought about the name.

the rest of the farm comes back in drops

Bars are what we make year-round. Everything else — face care, hair care, deodorant — is now made in a few big batches a year and released as drops. The next one lands at Black Friday.

Lauren Stewart with the goats on the Tyme Soap farm in Idaho
why we make this

it started with our own family's skin

Tyme began on our Idaho farm, when Lauren started making goat-milk soap for skin problems in our own house that store-bought products kept making worse.

Nothing has changed since: every batch is still poured by hand, right here, with milk from our own goats — and Lauren still reads the reviews of every product we make.
